Back to School Night

Last night we had back to school night for Payton and Carson. We went to the school and they were able to see their new classrooms, meet their teachers and bring their school supplies. Payton already knew her teacher because she taught first grade last year but Carson’s teacher is new this year. She is pretty young and seems super sweet. Once Carson got into his room, he didn’t want to leave! He was so excited to see that some of his buddies were going to be in his class as well. Payton’s most exciting news is that she has a locker in the hallway now instead of the cubby she had in her classroom last year. She kept going out and putting her backpack in it and then taking it out. If we couldn’t find her, she would just be standing beside the locker. It was pretty cute! The PTO sells sub sandwiches / chips and drinks as well so we had dinner there too.
Once we were done inside we went out and let the kids play on the playground for a while. It was really nice weather out so we let them play until it started getting too cool for Aidan to be out. Everyone had a good time and we came back home and had a family movie night (I fell asleep on the sofa and woke up when the movie was over!)
My Mom came up last Thursday night and stayed with us until yesterday. Mike and I had an outing with his company on Saturday. It was an overnight trip so it was my first night away from Aidan. We went golfing Saturday morning and then went to Spirit Lake for a boat ride around the lake. After that we went to the Inn and had dinner and drinks. We stayed all night and then came home Sunday morning. It was nice being out but I don’t want to leave Aidan again any time soon. That was harder than I thought it would be! My Mom’s birthday was on Saturday as well so we all went to Bergen to celebrate. As usual, our food was super yummy!
Aidan finally lost his umbilical cord this morning so he was able to have a real bath! He didn’t know what to think at first but he ended up loving it! I am so glad that sponge baths are over!
We are preparing for our first big trip next weekend. We will go to Ames on Friday and stay with Mike’s parents until Sunday morning. We will get up and head to my Mom’s early Sunday and stay through Monday. I am hoping to also hook up with my best friend from high school while I am home. She now lives in Kansas City and we never get to see eachother. It will be a lot of running but we should get our visits in with lots of family and friends!
Here are some pictures of our last week. Enjoy!

  1. How fun! That is great about Payton's locker. I am sure Bryn would do the exact thing but they still have cubbies. Bryn's favorite part of the day was the cafeteria because she got to talk with her friends and didn't even get a warning.
