January is over?

It is a little shocking to me that January is almost over!  Where did the month go?

We have been busy as normal!  At the beginning of the month Payton had her gymnastics Gold Medal Performance.  What a great night!  She did her floor routine to Kung Foo Fighting and did excellent.  This was her first year in the intermediate class and was nervous about performing with the older girls but she did great!  She did a balance beam routine, floor routine, 2 vaults and a couple of swings on the bars.  We were very proud of her and went to DQ w/ grandma and papa Amundson when it was over!

Carson has gotten back into the swing of wrestling after his Chrstmas break.  The first tournament was pretty rough but he has caught back on to what he needs to do.  He and Mike went to Lake Crystal today and he scored a 2nd place medal.  Way to go!!

Aidan is still growing like crazy!  He is our little "moose".  The kid will be 6 months old next week and already weighs 20 pounds.  He is much bigger than Payton and Carson were at this age.  They were only around 16 pounds!  Aidan has learned how to roll over so now he is officially on the move!  He rolls where he wants to go and I laugh out loud when I watch him!  He has 2 teeth fully in and 2 more partially in.  He looks so sweet when he smiles and you see the bottom two sticking out.

We have a busy couple of months coming up! Carson will have wrestling tournaments every weekend from now through March.  Mike and  I go to Mexico mid February.  Mike leaves the week afte we get back from Mexico to head to Florida.  Carson will go to the state wrestling tournament in March.  What elese can we fit in there?

We had a small scare last week with Payton.  She hurt her annkle / foot in gym class and was having difficulty walking on it.  I honestly thought she may have broken it.  After 5 x rays it was determined nothing was broken.  She just had to wrap her foot for a couple of days and take it easy.  Today she had a birthday party at the bowling alley and was able to bowl just fine so she is on the mend!

That kind of wraps up our month.  We keep busy and can't believe how fast time flies by us!

Mexico!!

Mike surprised me this week -- which is pretty hard to do!  This May we will celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary.  I had wanted to take a trip somewhere but we weren't sure yet if we wanted to go alone or take our kids and had no idea where to go.  Mike surprised me with a trip to Mexico!  We will be going next month and I am so excited!  Especially considering the weather we are having now!  I can't wait to be on a beach soaking up the sun and getting out of the snow!  Lee and Diane will come to our house and watch our kids for us.  I am not sure how it will go without my baby boy for 5 days.  He changes so much so quickly....that is the only negative thing about our trip.  I will miss him terribly (my other kids too but it is different when it is a baby!)  Anyway, bonus points for Mike!  My passport is still good but Mike had to have his renewed.  It expired the week before we leave!  How funny is that???

Wow! What crazy weather this new year is bringing us! We have new snow and strong winds. Roads are closed all around us. I stayed home from work today and school was cancelled for the kids. It has been a good day of cleaning (for me) and playing the wii (for the kids). Payton has done a lot of reading as well!

Aidan had big news last week!  He turned 5 months old AND got his 1st 2 teeth.  He has really been messing with his tongue lately and I am guessing that is why!  I had no idea he was even trying to cut teeth and was so shocked when I saw them.  He looks pretty cute too!  He is still sleeping more than a 5 month old should be allowed!  He goes to bed between 4-5 at night and gets up around 5 or 6 in the morning.  I am not sure what we did to deserve such a good baby but we have truly been blessed!

We celebrated Christmas last weekend with the Rickey family. We had a full car load on our way home! So many presents!! Of course the kids have enjoyed their new things and are trying to make room in their rooms without getting rid of any of their older things!

On our way home from Ames we stopped in Radcliffe and visited the Miles family!  Carson LOVES playing with "Seff" (seth).  Before we knew it a few hours had passed and we had to head home.  We can't wait to see them again -- soom!

The kids went back to school on Monday.  I could tell they were dragging trying to get used to going back.  Now with the snow day I let them stay in jammies all day.  No need to put clothes on if we are just lounging at home!

We are preparing for wrestling tournaments this weekend and also a gymnastics performance on Sunday!  This will end Payton's 4th year of gymnastics which is so hard to believe.  She has really been practicing hard on her routines and I can't wait to watch her!  Hopefully the weather will cooperate so we can still have it!
