A Full and Busy Weekend!

What a crazy weekend! The weekend started on Friday afternoon. My friend Nicole and I made a quick grocery run and then I headed back home, picked the kids up at daycare and started cleaning house. I woke up bright and early on Saturday and cleaned the kitchen.

Our friends Nicole and Jay were coming over to help us finish the bathroom so I wanted to pick up before they got here. Mike and Jay were working on the bathroom and Mike realized he hadn’t heard anything from out dogs so he went out to check on them. We have a fenced in back yard and he forgot to shut the gate. The dogs took the opportunity to escape and venture around Lakefield. Mike and Jay went looking for them and after an hour of driving around and yelling for them came up empty handed. Nic and I were headed to Jackson for a purse party so we took the back-way to get there in case we could see them…still nothing. When we got home Nic and I went looking for them and after over an hour came home…still empty handed. I was really starting to get worried and both Payton and Carson were upset and crying.

We had a huge storm coming in and I was sick to my stomach b/c they still weren’t home. I stayed out in the yard and yelled for them while Mike and Jay went driving town again….still no luck and the storm had hit so we had to stay inside. I went to bed thinking that they would come home in the middle of the night so we left our garage door cracked and the gate to the back yard open. I awoke on Sunday morning around 6:00 and ran outside to see that they were still not home. At 6:30 we loaded all 3 kids in the truck and started looking again. We drove to the very Northwest corner of town and hit a few country roads. We both looked up to see a black dog walking on the side of the gravel road and sure enough….it was BEN!! When we got to him you could see he was soaking wet, cold, tired and very sore. We looked all over but could not see Jade anywhere.

We brought Ben home and put him inside where he could eat and rest and headed back out to look for Jade. It was after 9:00 and I was really starting to get worried b/c there was no sign of her anywhere. We headed back toward the road where we found Ben and at the intersection Jade was rounding the corner! I was so excited the tears started falling…I couldn’t help it…I was SO happy to see her!

We brought her home and she and Ben slept / rested most of the day. They were both very sore and could hardly move. It was a long journey for 9 and 10 year old dogs! But they are home and safe!

Payton and I went and visited a friend who recently had surgery. I had made a lasagna and some bars to take to her. When we got home Mike and I started working on the landscaping in the back yard and got it finished! We also finished up in the spare bathroom and just have the new window to install and 3 walls worth of trim. I also need to find new faceplates for the light switch and the outlets. The bathroom looks awesome! We could never have done it w/out Jay’s help.

The purse party that Nicole and I went to was awesome! It was so hard to choose b/c all of the purses were so cool! I did get a cute orange purse w/ matching wallet! Can’t wait to get it filled!

Aidan has apparently picked up a cold from somewhere and has not been feeling well. His eyes water, nose runs and he sneezes and coughs. He is really grumpy which is completely out of character for him as well. Hopefully he can kick this soon! Wish us luck!

I love the vanity!

Soft Toss Ball, Gymnastics and Remodeling!

Our summer has officially kicked off!  We ended school for the summer on a Friday and our summer activities began on the next Monday.  Carson is in parent-pitched soft toss ball and he plays every Monday and Wednesday.  Payton started gymnastics which is every Thursday.  Adding to that, Mike and I golf on Wednesdays / Thursdays as well!

Carson's first game was really cute.  He did pretty well hitting and fielding and we were pretty proud of him.  His second game was on Wed.  Mike took him since I golf on Wednesdays.  It is nice this year b/c Monday night games are in Jackson but Wed night games are here in Lakefield

Thursday Mike's golf match was cancelled due to rain so he stayed with the boys and I took Payton to gymnastics.  I actually met a really good friend a few years ago b/c we both were waiting for our daughters while they were in gymnastics.  She and I got to catch up and I got to see her cutie patootie little ones.  She has a little boy that is about a month older than Aidan.  He is up and walking and a hoot to watch!

Payton had her first gymnastics camp on Friday from 3-6 and Saturday from 9-12.  She had a lot of fun but was REALLY worn out after!

Mike and I have decided to remodel our 2nd bathroom.  We have never really used it much b/c it always had the washer and dryer in there and it was really small.  When we got our new washer and dryer we moved them downstairs so it freed up  a lot of room in the spare bathroom.  Our friends Nicole and Jay spent their weekend with us and the boys gutted the whole bathroom and started the remodel.  Nicole and I were in charge of paint (except the high stuff!), curtains, and towels.  It was fun shopping for the colors and stuff to go in their.  Unfortunately we had to order the vanity and new  mirror so that won't go in until this Friday.  We did get the new toiled, flooring and lighting in.  All the paint is done.  We also need to install the window.

We are so glad that the hardest parts are over and never could have done it w/out friends!

Carson's ball game was cancelled tonight due to rain so we are having a very low-key evening here at home.  Aidan has been kind of cranky (as cranky as he gets anyway) and I am guessing it is due to teething.  His little gums are so swollen and red.  He has no appetite, awful diapers and isn't sleeping well.  All things that are NOT normal for him!

We are planning a big backyard luau for his 1st birthday and we are in the process of getting all things we need for that.  It is going to be fun and I can't wait to see it after it is all decorated!

Well, that is our updates for now.  Here are some pictures of the past week.  Enjoy!!

Catching Up! Camping - Summer Vacation - Birthday!

What a fun weekend we had our first time camping! Mike and I took all three kids and camped with our friends Jay, Nicole and their 2 kids. We stayed in a tent and did pretty well! The kids had a blast and of course Aidan was really good!

I don’t know if I have ever had so many delicious meals! We fixed kabobs, pork loin, burgers, brats and hot dogs. Yummy!!

The kids got to go swimming in the lake one day and the other days we had picked up a wading pool and they had fun playing in the water w/ squirt guns and water toys. I was a little nervous about the showers but it didn’t turn out so bad!

While we were there we celebrated Carson’s 6th birthday. It is so hard to believe that he is 6! It seems like just yesterday that I had 2 little babies under my arms! Now he is officially a 1st grader! We had a big cookie decorated w/ the American flag and opened a few gifts he had gotten in the mail from our family. He had a really good time and it was fun watching him.

I think the Amundsons will be camping a lot in the future! We just need a bigger tent!

Last Wednesday we had awards day at school. Mike and I were both able to go and were very proud parents by the end! Payton was one of two students awarded with an Accelerated Reading award. I was actually crying which was a little embarrassing until I saw the mom of the other student crying too!  Payton also won the Silver level award for physical fitness. She had the bronze award at the beginning of the year but upped to silver by the end of the year! Way to go Payton!!

Thursday was field day for both kids at school. I was able to take off and go watch them. My mom was also able to make it which was a surprise for the kids. It turned out to be a really nice day and the kids had a lot of fun!

My daycare was closed on Friday so I stayed home with the kids. My mom had come up at last minute and we decided to work on the landscaping for our house. We completely re-did the front of the house and I can’t believe how different it looks. My mom worked her behind off! After the front yard was done we started on the back. We did work around the deck and started on the area off the sunporch. It is almost done and I can’t believe how much better it looks!

We went to our daycare’s daughter’s graduation reception tonight. Rachel was the first babysitter we had and our kids loved her! I was sad when she got older and no longer baby sat. It was a very nice reception and very good food!
