We had a very nice and relaxing Labor Day weekend. We decided to stay home and didn't really plan anything. It was so nice...not to mention our last weekend off for quite some time! :) Carson starts football next weekend and Payton starts gymnastics the weekend after that.
I got to spend a little time scrapbooking and getting my scrapbooking area more organized. I have done a few online books and they turn out so nice but nothing compares to actually getting in and scrapbooking. I signed Payton and I up for a scrapbooking weekend in October. I am so excited! She loves it as much as I do and she is so diligent when working in her book. I just ordered over a thousand pictures online and will work on getting them organized for both of us so we will have plenty to do! :)
Yesterday afternoon we took the kids to the city park to blow off some energy. It was perfect jeans / sweatshirt weather which I LOVE! The kids were excited to run into Bailee and Evan -- two kids that go to the same daycare. They played and had a blast! We came home for dinner and then headed out to Independence Lake to see if it would be a good fishing spot -- and decided we would do some fishing today.
I started getting sick on Friday w/ a sore throat and have had a runny nose and sore throat all weekend. I took some medicine last night before I went to bed and slept in until 8:30 this morning. I couldn't believe it. I am usually up bright and early -- especially on days when I COULD sleep in!
We got breakfast going and Mike got the boat ready so we could head out fishing. We got the boat into the water and loaded it up with our supplies. When Mike got in we couldn't get it started. We were bummed and decided we would just fish off the dock...We had problem after problem with our poles and it was really grassy so we just decided to come home. When we were getting the boat loaded back on the trailer Mike tried the motor one more time and it started! We decided to put it back in the water and try again! I am glad we did because the kids had a lot of fun and caught their share of fish. Aidan loved holding the pole, dropping the line in the water and waiting but he wanted NOTHING to do with the fish! It cracked me up...he kept looking at them and saying BUG. Not sure why he thought they were "bugs" but he was certain that was what they were called.
Payton had a play date with a classmate this afternoon so I decided to finally get some cleaning done. Mike and Carson went back out fishing and Aidan took a 4 hour nap!
We had a great weekend and I am sad to see it end. At least next week is only a 4 day working week and we get another weekend!
Here are some of our recent pictures:
