An American Girl Weekend at the Mall of America!

Holy smokes!  What a great weekend!  I picked Payton up at noon on Friday and we headed to Jackson to pick up our friends Jan and Ellie.  We spent the weekend in the cities and had a blast!

We arrived at our hotel on  Friday night and let the girls head to the water park there.  They had a lot of fun playing in the water, floating in the lazy river and Payton's favorite...the swirly pool!

We got up early on Saturday and headed to the Mall.  We got there a little early so we headed to the Barnes and Noble book store and picked up some "must reads" then headed over to the AG store!  I had told Payton I would buy her a new doll as an early birthday present.  After hours of looking through the catalog Payton chose the doll she wanted.  I had ordered her an outfit prior to us going so that she could match the doll she was going to be getting.  She was so surprised and LOVED it!

What an amazing time we had!  Payton took her Mia doll and we immediately headed to the doll salon.  Payton got Mia's hair done and sent her to the spa to get a little body buffing.  After we dropped her off we started to look around.  It is a little overwhelming because everything is so cute and it is so hard to choose!  After walking around for a bit Payton started picking out her items for purchase.  First she found the doll she wanted and picked her up.  She quickly chose the name "Annie" for her doll.  Her full name is Annie Ella Amundson...kind of a mouth full!

We then picked out another outfit for Payton and Annie that matched.  She chose some really cute PJ's that have the Honey Puppy on them.  So, of course we then bought the Honey dog!  She found several cute things for her doll and we headed to the checkout.  2 hours had passed and it seemed like minutes!  We kept riding the escalator up and down checking out both floors of the store!  We ran our packages out to the car and then headed back into the store b/c we had noon reservations for lunch at the AG Bistro.  All four of us got to choose an appetizer and an entree.  The dolls had chairs that hooked onto the table so they got to eat with us too!

After our yummy lunch we decided we wanted to shop around a bit more!  We all ended up back at the registers again and decided we had better get out before we emptied our bank accounts!  We headed to Claires and Payton picked up some cute clips for Annie's hair and then decided she wanted to buy herself a pair of fake glasses.  They look so cute on her!

After shopping for accessories we headed to a mirror maze on the 3rd floor...sounds fun doesn't it???  Well, we thought it would until we were in there for 20 minutes and continued to walk in circles....we were all tired and getting a little more than frustrated!  Right when we were about to reach our limit, we found the light at the end of the tunnel and escaped!

When we got to the car it was 4:00.  We had spent 7 hours in the mall and 6 of those was in the AG store!!  We headed back to the hotel and were all beat!  The girls headed back down to the water park and played for a little bit.  When they were done we gave them baths / showers and let them go down to the restaurant in their jammies.  Of course their new dolls came too!  We had dinner and headed back the room to relax.

On Sunday, we had to actually go back to the AG store b/c something needed to be exchanged.  Of course we spent another hour in the AG store and we all headed to the registers w/ more purchases AGAIN!

We finally kicked ourselves out of there and headed home!  It was such a great trip!  I had a blast but was ready to come home and see the boys.  Mike had taken them to the water park in Spirit Lake before we got home.  It sounds like they had an equally good time.

I think we have decided we are restricted from the store for at least another year!  :)

Here are some pictures of our trip:
